The amazing (and obvious) compatibility of tailoring and embroidery
Sew Ho Studio’s is are the combined talents of Kate and Nikki. In all of the skills we’ve developed over the years 2 in particular are the passions that run at the core of what we do.
Tailoring and embroidery go hand in hand and we love blending these 2 skills together. Kate and Nikki collaborated on projects for several years through their own separate businesses, Kate Rose Designs and Pink Nik Designs. It was such a great blend of skills that when the pandemic hit we decided that the time was right to take the leap and work together full time!
If you’re reading this then there is a chance you already know how compatible these 2 things are, but on the small chance you’re here and you need more information then read on!
Why is tailoring and embroidery so compatible?
- Personalisation: Tailoring allows you to customise your clothes to fit your body perfectly. From a simple alteration to a complete bespoke suit, the possibilities are endless. Whether it’s a simple monogram or a complex design, embroidery is made to its very core for personalisation.
- Unique Style: Why take things direct of the rail and make do when you can go to your favourite charity shop, vintage kilo sale or even use the likes of vinted or ebay, where you can take something that is second hand and then totally make it your own. Tailoring can allow you to change a garment, or even take one apart to make it in a totally different fabric. Embroidery embellishments mean you can take that unique style stamp and make it wholly your own.
- Quality Craftsmanship: Tailoring and embroidery are all about quality. Kate and Nikki have spent decades developing their skills. A combination of study, time served, keeping up to date with industry developments. No matter who you use for these services, although we hope it will be Sew Ho’s, skilled artisans use high-quality materials and techniques to create garments that will last. We are always happy to give no obligation quotes for all the work that we do and will discuss all the options available to get the best finish for your project.
- Sustainability: By choosing tailoring and embroidery for your clothing, you’re supporting sustainable fashion. You can repair and upcycle your existing wardrobe instead of buying new, fast fashion items. Even if you are buying new, carefully selecting the items you want and altering them to fit means that they are more likely to last longer in your wardrobe too.
So why not grab your clothing, bring it on down to the Sew Ho’s studio and have a chat with us as to what could be done to make your clothing fit better, refresh a garments look or customise it with some embroidery.
